Hey there!! I’m new to Substack but have been around the urbanism world for a while. I’m writing a Substack about parenting in cities (with a focus on the Rust Belt) called Neighborhood Mom
We have a private list going of urbanist writers who'll be at Strong Towns, CNU, YimbyTown, Abundance Con, Progress Con, whatever. Intention is to help folks connect IRL.
Might be worth looking into. I focus on how urban form changes driver behavior. Turns out, it is, and always has been, about the people, which means there are wide ranging implications in every type of urbanity.
Thank you for compiling this list, Ryan and Diana! I added it to my "about" section. I know my project just started, but I'd love to be added to the list eventually. I'm a journalist and planning commissioner in a small town, and those are often overlooked in this world - my Substack is urbanism with a "how it works in a specific place" niche - https://stephnakhleh.substack.com/
Happy to be part of this growing community. A lot of these folks inspired me to get writing. On my Substack I write about transit, urban infrastructure and construction. Would love to be included on future roundups.
No worries! There are a lot people writing, so I'm sure we didn't even get everyone on Substack. If we left any Substackers off, it's a sin of omission, not a slight!
No worries, I suspected that’s what was going on. There’s plenty of people that are left off from these self-selected lists. As a veteran of the Planetizen contemporary urbanist list, it’s always fun to be selected or ignored.
To be clear, this was not a curated list. We included everyone we could think of, so if we missed you, it wasn't intentional. This will be updated going forward.
What a wonderful list! Thank you for this (and for including me!)
Thanks for this. A lot of my favorites are on it and I look forward to checking out
some new ones too. Build to Thrive is a great Stack, too 👍🏼👍🏼

I was an urbanist, three books about cities, now place-ethereal—but relevant—I promise. https://resurgencejourney.substack.com/
Nice to encounter you here! I'll add you on the update.
Thanks for including me (and for vastly expanding my own reading list!).
Thanks for the mention!
Thanks for mentioning us :)
@ other folks I don't already know

DM me if you want to be included
SO many great newsletters to check out--thanks for the great list!
Bummed that I didn't make it to the list yet:

Happy to encounter you now! And I've updated the list with your info. The plan is to keep this "live" going forward.
Honored to be on the list with so many great writers! Thank you. 🙏

Thanks, Stephanie! I'll check out your work and add you once I do the next update.
Thanks for the shoutout mate! Love your work

Sure thing! I'll add you.
A substack you might want to include is one by Brad Weed called Interplace https://interplace.io/
Noted, thanks!
No Michael Sorkin? I’m astonished.
This was a Substack-only list.
Oh, I’m sorry.

He’s passed away, Covid, pre-Substack
I know — but his body of work is so crucial to the field. Again, excuse me — I misunderstood the criteria of the list.
