ADA compliant Sidewalks are Essential for walkable / livable / safe communities.

Agreed. Austin, where I live, already has a huge sidewalk deficit. We've been slow to build new sidewalks because the ones we do have are not compliant—and, frankly, appallingly unsafe even for able-bodied people in many cases—which means the city spends a lot of money rebuilding existing sidewalks.

Hey Ryan, I live in Austin and would love to see this happen. Curious about the best way to help it along - should we reach out to the Planning Commission or City Council and express support for it?

Hi James! This has just been approved by the Codes & Ordinances Joint Committee, so it will move onto the Planning Commission now. Reaching out in support to that body will definitely help. You could also reach out to your City Council Member to let them know you would love to see them support or sponsor this item. And of course getting everyone you know to do the same. DM me if you'd be interested in connecting IRL sometime!

As a former resident of Avenue G (40 years ago), I love that others may be able to experience what it's like to have amenities so close. Good work. The little cluster of businesses at 43rd and Duval was so unusual, we used to lovingly call it Dinky Town.

Thank you, Barbara! Hopefully every neighborhood will one day have its own “Dinky Town”!
